My name is Mari Potter and this is my third year of teaching first grade. I am beyond excited to begin my third year of teaching in a school district where student success, achievement, and a healthy learning environment are at the forefront of their education. I graduated with my teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin- River Falls with the goal of starting my Master’s program in the very near future.
I married my high school sweetheart Duncan, after 8 years together. We bought a house, got married, and brought two kittens, and a puppy into our home. I love spending time outside kayaking, biking, and running. Fall colors, pumpkin spice, and crisp air are but a few things I look forward to each year.
I believe creating a classroom community aimed at providing each and every student with a sense of belonging, as well as safety to take risks with their learning, to be fundamental and essential. With the goal of creating a classroom community where students feel safe, cared for, and able to take risks, parent communication and involvement are encouraged and welcomed. I strongly believe the positive relationship between teacher and parents can provide students with a powerful sense of community and support with their learning. I welcome all opportunities to collaborate and communicate with families in regards to their child’s learning.
